On Friday, Professor Ahsan Iqbal announced that Pakistan’s final AI policy will be presented to the Cabinet for approval in August. He urged for faster consultations with stakeholders and emphasized that AI is already a reality.
Iqbal highlighted the creation of the National Center for Artificial Intelligence in 2017 and the National Task Force on AI in 2023. He criticized past policies for slowing economic progress and mentioned ongoing obstacles.
He also noted that Pakistan and China have agreed to train 200,000 young Pakistanis in IT skills. Despite some countries restricting Pakistani students from tech education, Pakistan is determined to advance in AI.
Iqbal announced a major AI conference and stressed that AI could benefit various sectors, believing that Pakistani youth can achieve success in the tech world.
