The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted light rain and cloudy skies in Karachi over the next 24 hours. On Thursday morning, the city experienced a light drizzle, with temperatures hovering between 30°C and 32°C.
Karachi’s minimum temperature was recorded at 28°C, with humidity levels reaching 85%. Westward winds are blowing at a speed of 13 km/h. The PMD has forecasted light rain or drizzle not only in Karachi but also in nearby cities like Hyderabad, Thatta, and Badin throughout the day.
Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz mentioned that monsoon winds are expected to enter lower Sindh starting August 16. As a result, Karachi is likely to see moderate rain accompanied by thundershowers from August 17 to 19, with the possibility of heavy rain in some areas.
In response to the expected increase in monsoon activity, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an urban flooding alert for parts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa until August 18. The NDMA’s National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) warns of moderate to heavy rainfall across Hazara, Malakand Division, and other districts during this period.
