Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz celebrated Independence Day by hoisting the national flag at Lahore Fort’s Alamgiri Gate. During a special ceremony at Hazoori Bagh, where the national anthem was played, she visited Mazar-e-Iqbal, laid a floral wreath, offered Fateha, and prayed for Pakistan’s prosperity and integrity. A smart contingent of scouts saluted her at the steps of Badshahi Mosque.
In her address, Maryam emphasized that political stability is key to making Pakistan an ideal country. She expressed hope for Allah’s continued blessings on Pakistan, calling it a great gift from God. Maryam congratulated the nation on Independence Day and paid tribute to Arshad Nadeem, highlighting the immense talent in Pakistan. She reiterated that the country belongs to everyone, including minorities, and that all citizens have equal rights. She also honored the young men who sacrificed their lives for the nation’s freedom, reminding everyone of the value of independence.
Later, Maryam made a surprise visit to the Central Business District (CBD) Walton project, where she inspected the progress of the Walton Road 47 project and the Walton Road drain construction. She urged the swift completion of these projects, with a three-lane carriageway in Walton expected to open for traffic in September and the dual carriageway set to be completed by October.
