Legendary Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s ‘Lost Album’ to be Released in September
A new album featuring previously unheard recordings by the legendary qawwal Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan will be released on September 20, more than 27 years after his death.
The album, titled “Chain of Light,” was found in the tape archives of Peter Gabriel’s Real World Records. Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan recorded with Real World Records starting in 1989, releasing several popular albums in the 1990s.
The album, recorded at Real World Studios in April 1990, includes Nusrat and his eight-member group performing four traditional qawwali tracks, including one that has never been heard before. This new release will let fans experience Nusrat’s music in high-quality sound, showcasing his exceptional vocal skills.
The discovery of these recordings adds to Nusrat’s legacy and provides a fresh look at his remarkable artistry.
