Lahore Implements New E-Challans for Various Traffic Offenses

Lahore has launched an electronic challan (e-challan) system to address violations like not staying in lanes, crossing stop lines, and disregarding zebra crossings. Fines for these offenses are now being sent directly to the homes of those who commit them.

This initiative comes after Safe City cameras recorded 73,000 violations in a single day. Chief Traffic Police Officer (CTO) Amara Athar emphasized the importance of strict lane discipline to keep traffic moving smoothly.

She mentioned improvements in road markings and lane lines, with a focus on ensuring that motorcyclists use the far left lane.

CTO Athar also stated that enforcement of lane discipline will be especially strict on designated model roads in Lahore. Recent data from traffic monitoring showed 15,281 instances of running red lights, 12,000 cases of speeding, and 3,000 violations of one-way traffic rules.

Additionally, there were over 41,000 incidents of not staying within lanes and crossing stop lines. Reports indicate that Lahore has issued e-challans to 700,000 vehicles this year for failing to follow lane discipline.
