Kuwait Revokes Citizenship of 90 Individuals

Kuwaiti authorities have announced the revocation of citizenship for 90 individuals due to various law violations, following the previous day’s decision to revoke citizenship for 12 people, including five women.

The Supreme Committee to Investigate Kuwaiti Citizenship, chaired by Sheikh Fahad Yusuf Saud Al-Sabah, made this decision and plans to present the cases to the cabinet. The revocations are based on Article 11 of the Kuwaiti Citizenship Law 15/1959 and its amendments, with specific cases also cited under Article 21 and Article 13.

Earlier, nine individuals had their citizenship revoked for violations related to the Nationality Law. Common reasons for these actions include obtaining citizenship through fraud, making false statements, or being convicted of crimes that violate honor or trust within 15 years of acquiring citizenship. The decision also extends to revoking citizenship for the dependents of those affected.

Last month, it was announced that 850 people had their Kuwaiti citizenship stripped as part of ongoing efforts to enforce nationality laws.
