Karachi is facing extreme heat, with the “feels like” temperature hitting 51°C around 2 pm on Monday due to high humidity. A partial heatwave is expected to continue for the next three days.
Sardar Sarfraz, the chief meteorologist of the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), said Karachi’s temperature will exceed 40°C today, with extremely hot and humid weather continuing for three days. The sea breeze will be blocked during the day, making it feel even hotter.
On Tuesday, temperatures will likely be between 38°C and 40°C, with hot winds from Balochistan blowing during the day and the sea breeze possibly returning in the evening.
Temperatures are expected to drop slightly from Wednesday, possibly falling to 39°C or 37°C.
The PMD also predicts above-normal rainfall in southern Sindh, including Karachi, this year. Monsoon rains might start in eastern Sindh around July 2 or 3, and Karachi could see rain in the first week of July.
Most parts of Sindh will remain very hot for the next three days. In Ghotki, Jacobabad, Dadu, Larkana, and Shikarpur, temperatures might reach 46°C to 48°C. In Hyderabad, Umarkot, Tharparkar, and Badin, temperatures will range from 44°C to 46°C, with a chance of light rain and thundershowers in Tharparkar and Umarkot this evening or tonight.
