Karachi Traders Upset as Lockdown During Iranian President’s Visit Affects Business
The Sindh government’s decision to enforce a lockdown in Karachi during the Iranian president’s visit has angered many traders.
On Tuesday, the government declared a holiday across the province, leading to the closure of places like the Saddar shopping centers and the electronics market on MA Jinnah Road. Although some grain markets and clothing stores were allowed to operate partially, business remained slow.
Traders are concerned about financial losses, estimating a daily loss of around Rs. 3.5 billion. They urge the government to devise a clear plan to ensure smooth business operations amidst such disruptions.
