Karachi is facing a severe heatwave, leading to many heat-related illnesses and deaths. In the past 24 hours, Jinnah Hospital admitted 1,592 patients with heat-related issues. Sadly, 20 patients have died, and 29 others were brought in already deceased.
The intense heat is due to a lack of sea breeze, which usually cools the city. According to the MET Office, the hot weather is expected to continue until tomorrow.
On Monday, Karachi experienced its hottest day of the year so far, reaching 42°C. Authorities have issued warnings, advising residents to avoid sun exposure between 10 AM and 4 PM, when the sun’s rays are strongest.
Medical professionals are urging people to stay hydrated, stay indoors as much as possible, and take precautions to avoid heatstroke and other heat-related conditions.
With no immediate relief in sight, it’s crucial for the community to stay informed and take steps to protect their health during this heatwave.
