Karachi Bans Public Access to Beaches Due to Approaching Cyclone

In response to an approaching cyclone in the Arabian Sea, Karachi authorities have imposed a three-day ban on public access to beaches and coastlines. The ban, effective from today until August 31, follows heavy rains and warnings from the Meteorological Department.

Commissioner Karachi has enacted Section 144, prohibiting all beach activities, including swimming, diving, and sightseeing. The decision was made based on advice from the Deputy Commissioners of South and Kemari districts. Authorities are instructed to strictly enforce the ban, with violators facing severe penalties.

In the past 24 hours, Karachi has experienced significant rainfall, with Gulshan Hadeed recording 62mm of rain. Over the last 72 hours, Gulshan Hadeed has accumulated 128mm of rain, while Surjani Town, Nazimabad, and Kemari recorded 30mm, 26mm, and 21mm, respectively.
