Islamabad is set to see a revival of its cinema industry following the 13th meeting of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Board, chaired by CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa. The meeting, attended by all board members, approved plans to redevelop plots for cinema construction, aligning with legal requirements.

The CDA has greenlit the establishment of four new cinema sites across the city, designed to meet modern and international standards. This move aims to enhance the city’s entertainment offerings and revitalize its cinema sector.

Additionally, the board decided to place the Resource Wing under the Member Finance to better manage financial matters. This restructuring will help achieve revenue targets by exploring new revenue sources, addressing weaknesses in revenue collection, and integrating advanced technology and practices.

The meeting also approved hiring transaction advisory services for the IT Park in Sector G-10 and authorized the Public-Private Partnership Authority to secure advisory services for various projects. Furthermore, the feasibility and design of a new bus terminal, backed by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), were also approved.

To improve the city’s sewage treatment system, the board approved transferring the City Sewerage Division under the DG Water. These initiatives are part of a broader effort to enhance Islamabad’s infrastructure and public services.
