Iran’s President Raisi met with Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah while visiting Karachi. They talked about how Pakistan and Iran can work together on economic opportunities, like investments.
According to CM Shah’s spokesperson Abdul Rasheed Channa, Raisi and the chief minister discussed how they can invest in each other’s countries and make their economic relationship stronger.
Before arriving in Karachi, President Raisi visited Lahore, where he went to Mazar-i-Iqbal and met with Punjab government officials.
When he got to Karachi, Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori and Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah welcomed him at Jinnah International Airport. He also went to Mazar-i-Quaid to pay his respects.
Raisi mentioned feeling a special connection with the people of Pakistan, saying he felt at home here.
Pakistan’s foreign office had said before that Raisi would visit Lahore and Karachi and meet with the provincial leaders.
Sindh Governor said that Raisi’s visit would make the relationship between Iran and Pakistan even stronger.
Karachi Division had a public holiday because of the visit, so most offices and schools were closed except for emergency services.
Raisi’s visit to Pakistan lasts three days, until April 24th.
