If you need legal assistance but can’t afford a lawyer or court fees, here are four ways to get free help in the UAE:

1.Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD)

    • Offers free legal services including court representation and covering expert witness fees.
    • Available through in-person consultations, phone calls, or assigned lawyers.
    • Contact: Abu Dhabi: 026512926, 026512657, 026513074, 026513732; Al Ain: 037047273, 037047160; Western Region: 026513172.
    • Working hours: Weekdays, 7:30am to 2:00pm.

2.Dubai Courts’ ‘Shoor’ Programme

    • Provides free consultations with law firms for financially distressed individuals.
    • Contact Dubai Courts’ call center at 04 334 7777.
    • Service conditions: One-time advice, pre-filing only, provided by licensed Dubai lawyers.
    • Working hours: Monday to Thursday, 7:00am to 2:20pm; Friday until 11:20am.

3.Voluntary Legal Services Smart Portal (‘Ask A Lawyer’)

    • Access free legal advice through the Dubai Now app.
    • Submit a request for advice from registered lawyers.
    • Steps: Log in to the app, choose ‘Ask a lawyer,’ select your preferences, and schedule a consultation.

4.DIFC Courts’ Pro Bono Programme

    • Offers free legal advice and representation for civil cases within the DIFC free zone.
    • Free legal clinics are held bi-weekly, and online consultations are available.
