HEC Announces Scholarships for Students from Gilgit-Baltistan
The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has opened applications for its “Undergraduate Scholarship Programme for the students of Gilgit-Baltistan in Top Pakistani Universities/Institutions (Batch-IV).” This initiative is designed to support students from Gilgit-Baltistan who are pursuing undergraduate studies (4/5 year BS programs) at HEC-recognized public sector universities or degree-awarding institutions for the academic year 2024-25.
Eligibility Criteria:
Domicile/Local Certificate: Applicants must hold a domicile or local certificate of Gilgit-Baltistan.
Academic Qualification: Completion of Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) or an equivalent qualification is required.
Other Scholarships: Those already receiving any other scholarship are not eligible.
Age Limit: Applicants must be 22 years old or younger as of the application deadline.
Scholarship Coverage:
Tuition Fees: Up to Rs. 240,000 per year.
Hostel Fees: Included.
Monthly Stipend: Rs. 15,000.
Book and Travel Allowances: Totaling Rs. 30,000 per annum.
Important Notes:
Selection Process: Candidates will be shortlisted based on their scores in the Aptitude Test conducted by the Education Testing Council (ETC), HEC, and their academic credentials.
Minimum Score: A minimum score of 50% in the test is required. The test result will be valid for one year.
Eligibility for Current Students: Students already enrolled in a BS program at public sector universities or institutions, before the advertisement (for a maximum of one academic year), are also eligible.
Merit-Based Award: Scholarships will be awarded on a merit basis, with no discrimination based on gender, caste, race, or religion
Application Scope: Applications are open for any public sector university or institution in Pakistan.
HEC’s Discretion: HEC reserves the right to cancel or postpone the scholarship process without prior notice.
