U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris has taken a lead over former President Donald Trump by 5 percentage points, according to a recent NBC News poll. The survey reveals a significant shift in public perception, with 48% of respondents viewing Harris positively since she became the Democratic presidential nominee, a notable increase from 32% in July. This marks the largest jump in favorability ratings for a politician since President George W. Bush’s ratings surged after the September 11 attacks.
In contrast, Trump’s favorable rating stands at 40%, up from 38% in July. The poll, conducted between September 13-17, has a margin of error of 3 percentage points.
Additionally, a separate CBS News poll shows Harris leading Trump by 4 percentage points among likely voters, with 52% supporting her compared to 48% for Trump, and a margin of error of plus or minus 2 percentage points.
These findings align with other recent national polls, including those from Reuters/Ipsos, indicating a competitive race as the November 5 election approaches. Harris and Trump are seen as key contenders, with their campaigns intensifying in the coming weeks.
