The district administration has successfully reclaimed land that was illegally occupied for 77 years. The operation took place on Zafarwal Road, overseen by Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Zulqarnain and Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Revenue Muhammad Iqbal.
The land, which includes an eight-canal area and a 500-pond site of Ranjit Singh’s Gurdwara Babe-Di-Bari, had been taken over by land mafia in 1947. It was converted into a cattle pen and used for shops and a political party office. Heavy machinery was used to remove the encroachments.
The operation involved Municipal Officer Regulation Rana Saqlain, anti-encroachment staff, local police, and Revenue Department officials. According to ADC Revenue Muhammad Iqbal, the land rightfully belongs to the Sikh community, as confirmed by the Revenue Department’s records.
