Govt Takes Key Step to Speed Up Passport Issuance for Citizens

To address the ongoing passport delays, the federal government has decided to buy more machines for printing passports. This move aims to reduce the long wait times for citizens needing their travel documents.

The Director General of Passports and Immigration has requested approval from the Ministry of Interior to purchase six desktop printers and two e-passport machines. These new machines can print up to 1,000 passports per hour, which will greatly speed up the process.

Currently, passport printing delays are caused by a shortage of paper and outdated machines, leading to long waiting periods for many citizens.

The new equipment should help speed up passport production and improve service. The Ministry of Interior is expected to quickly approve the request, which should help clear the backlog and restore efficiency in passport issuance.
