Late Thursday, the Petroleum Division and Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) instructed all Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) to ensure their petrol stations remain open and stocked with fuel on Friday.
This directive was issued in response to a planned nationwide strike by the Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association (PPDA) on July 5. The PPDA has announced that over 13,000 petrol stations will be closed from 6 am on that day, and the strike may continue if their demands are not met.
The PPDA is protesting against a new turnover tax imposed by the Finance Act 2024-25. The Petroleum Division and OGRA assured that there is enough fuel supply in the country.
