Government Imposes Rs. 5,000 Excise Duty on Air Tickets for Laborers Traveling to Gulf Countries

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) will now charge a federal excise duty (FED) of Rs. 5,000 per ticket for passengers traveling to Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries on labor visas.

The FBR announced this new rule in a notification issued on Wednesday.

According to the notification, the Rs. 5,000 excise duty will apply to each ticket for passengers holding labor visas verified by the Protector of Emigrants, traveling from Pakistan to GCC countries.

The GCC includes Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, and Bahrain, where many Pakistani laborers are employed.
