An inquiry into the administration of expired injections to cancer patients at Mayo Hospital, Lahore, has concluded with four employees found guilty of negligence.
The investigation revealed that the deputy drug controller, a nurse, and two dispensers were responsible for mishandling the delivery of the injections, leading to some patients receiving an overdose. This negligence has been deemed a serious breach of protocol, posing significant risks to patient health and safety.
As a result, an inquiry under the PEEDA (Punjab Employees Efficiency, Discipline, and Accountability) Act has been approved for these employees. Notices have been issued, requiring them to respond to the allegations against them. The PEEDA Act inquiry will further assess the situation and determine appropriate disciplinary actions based on their replies.
