A Qatar-to-Philippines flight was forced to make an emergency landing at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport after experiencing a critical engine failure while traversing Pakistani airspace.

Civil aviation sources report that the aircraft, cruising at 39,000 feet, suffered a malfunction that led to one of its engines shutting down. The pilot promptly issued a mayday call and requested emergency landing clearance.

Air traffic control responded swiftly, authorizing the emergency landing. The pilot expertly maneuvered the plane to a safe touchdown at Karachi Airport.

All 187 passengers were safely evacuated and are now in the airport’s lounge. There were no reported injuries, and the passengers are anticipated to resume their journey once the aircraft is inspected and cleared for departure.

Civil aviation authorities are investigating the engine failure to pinpoint the cause. The decisive actions of both the pilot and the ground crew at Karachi Airport were instrumental in ensuring a safe resolution to the incident.
