The first shipment of Pakistani mangoes has reached the UAE, but prices are slightly elevated this year due to inflation and increased shipping expenses. Mustafa Altaf, managing director of a trading company, stated that the government authorized mango exports to commence on May 20, 2024.
Presently, a 6 kg box of Sindhi mangoes is priced between 28-30 dirhams. Despite challenges like reduced production caused by climate change, the demand for Pakistani mangoes remains robust in the UAE.
Altaf remains optimistic that Pakistani mango growers and exporters will continue to meet the high demand for their quality produce. He stressed the importance of upholding stringent standards to ensure customer satisfaction and the success of future exports.
Pakistani mangoes, often hailed as the “King of Fruits,” are immensely popular in the UAE, eagerly anticipated each year for their delicious sweetness. While climate change has impacted production levels, the commitment of growers and exporters to deliver top-quality mangoes remains steadfast.
Altaf’s company is striving to manage increased costs and ensure the mangoes reach consumers in optimal condition. Despite the rise in prices, the fervor for these mangoes remains undiminished, underscoring their enduring popularity and significance in the UAE market.
