The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) removed eight women from a Saudi Arabia-bound flight at Multan Airport.
The women—Sobia, Khadija, Aasia, Saira, Sajda, Salma, Sameena, and Naghma—are from Bahawalnagar and each had 200 Saudi Riyals with them. The FIA said they were allegedly traveling to Saudi Arabia to beg.
The women have been taken to the FIA’s anti-human trafficking unit in Multan for further investigation.
Last December, the FIA also removed nine people, including six women and two men, from a Saudi flight for similar reasons. They were posing as Umrah pilgrims but couldn’t show proof of hotel bookings.
The FIA is closely monitoring and acting against begging syndicates. The Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis has previously reported to the Senate that many beggars are trafficked abroad illegally.
