The federal government has earmarked Rs. 2 billion for Pakistan Bait-ul-Maal, a key welfare organization dedicated to assisting individuals and families in financial distress.
This substantial allocation is aimed at addressing a backlog of over 28,000 pending applications for various forms of aid, including medical treatment, education, and general financial support.
Of these pending applications, more than 13,000 involve individuals awaiting medical treatment. The newly allocated funds will enable the processing of these medical cases, providing critical support to those who have been long-awaiting assistance.
In addition to clearing the backlog, the funds will be used to settle overdue wages for Pakistan Bait-ul-Maal employees, who have not been compensated for the past two months. Ensuring that employees receive their pending salaries will help the organization continue its vital operations and services.
The Rs. 2 billion will be distributed across both federal and provincial offices of Pakistan Bait-ul-Maal to ensure that aid reaches individuals in need throughout the country.
However, recent audits have uncovered concerns regarding financial mismanagement within the organization. It was found that Rs. 2 billion had been misallocated, with Rs. 281 million intended for the underprivileged being improperly distributed to government employees.
