FBR Has Blocked Over 11,000 SIMs of Non-Filers to Date
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has blocked a total of 11,252 SIM cards belonging to individuals who have not filed their income tax returns.
Following the establishment of a Joint Working Group (JWG) comprising tax officials and telecom operators, the procedure for blocking SIM cards has been refined to align with legal requirements.
As per a notification issued after a recent meeting between the finance minister and representatives of Pakistan’s telecom operators on May 12, 2024, it has been decided to form a Joint Working Group (JWG). This group will be responsible for implementing Income Tax General Order (ITGO) No. 1 of 2024 and streamlining the process of blocking SIM cards belonging to non-filers in accordance with the law.
