A series of catastrophic explosions involving communication devices in Lebanon has claimed at least 14 lives and injured over 450 people, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry.

The explosions occurred late Wednesday afternoon, primarily affecting walkie-talkies used by Hezbollah in the southern regions and suburbs of Beirut. This new wave of violence follows a deadly incident the previous day, where exploding pagers resulted in 12 fatalities and around 2,800 injuries across Lebanon and Syria.

The Health Ministry described the explosions as a “wave of enemy attacks,” highlighting the significant casualties and destruction caused. The devices involved were reportedly linked to Hezbollah, which is accused of utilizing these communication tools for its operations.

These incidents have further intensified the already volatile situation in the region. In response, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to facilitate the return of tens of thousands of residents evacuated from northern border areas back to their homes.
