The U.S. Consulate General in Karachi has announced the 2024 English Access Scholarship Program, aimed at providing English language classes to 200 students. This initiative seeks to equip participants with essential skills to navigate an increasingly globalized world.
During the launch event, Consul General Scott Urbom emphasized the program’s role in opening new academic and career doors for participants. “By improving their English proficiency, these students are unlocking new opportunities for their futures,” he stated.
The program not only focuses on language skills but also fosters an understanding of American culture and values. CG Urbom expressed gratitude to the dedicated educators and staff at Evolution, the program’s implementing partner, and acknowledged the contributions of academic partners like Sindh Madressatul Islam University and others.
Sponsored by the U.S. Mission’s Regional English Language Office in Pakistan, this two-year program offers afterschool and intensive English classes to academically talented but economically disadvantaged students aged 13 to 20. Participants will gain insights into U.S. culture and democratic values, enhancing their ability to contribute to Pakistan’s socio-economic development and increasing their eligibility for future U.S. exchange programs.
Since its launch in 2004, the English Access Scholarship Program has supported around 8,000 students across Sindh and Balochistan, equipping them with the skills needed to thrive in a global environment.
