Imran Khan, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, is planning to run for the position of Chancellor at Oxford University after Lord Patten stepped down. The Chancellor’s role is mostly ceremonial, focused on representing the university rather than managing it.

For the first time, this election will be held online, allowing over 350,000 members of Oxford’s convocation to vote. Khan, who graduated from Oxford and was also a famous cricket captain for Pakistan, has confirmed his candidacy through his advisor, Syed Zulfi Bukhari. Khan has received significant public support, reflecting his well-known status and past leadership roles.

If elected, Khan would bring a unique perspective to the position, combining his experiences in politics, sports, and education. The election is attracting a lot of attention, not only because of Khan’s prominence but also due to the new online voting process.
