Pakistan’s IT sector is grappling with severe disruptions caused by slow internet speeds, resulting in significant losses for local businesses. Frequent internet outages have hindered productivity and damaged trust with international clients.
IT firms, particularly those involved in web development and digital marketing, are experiencing a sharp decline in efficiency. Tasks that used to take 5 to 6 hours are now taking up to 10 hours, doubling operational costs and increasing expenses related to extra salaries and higher electricity bills.
One local entrepreneur voiced frustration, stating, “Our international clients are losing confidence in us because of these internet issues. We’re struggling to meet deadlines and uphold our reputation. Clients are moving to India and Bangladesh for better internet services.”
The IT community in Faisalabad is demanding immediate improvements to internet infrastructure, emphasizing that the future of the city’s digital economy is at stake. Financial strain is also evident, with businesses facing challenges in paying staff salaries due to delays, underscoring the need for prompt action to prevent further disruptions.
