Dubai is planning to build its longest public beach as part of a major eco-tourism project. This beach will be part of a strategy to improve and expand Dubai’s public beaches by 400%.
The beach will be 6.6 kilometers long and located in Jebel Ali, a large commercial port. Dubai’s Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed has approved the Jebel Ali Beach Development Project, which is part of the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan.
The project will let visitors watch turtles in their natural habitat and aims to create more beaches, open spaces, and green areas to enhance the well-being of the city’s residents. Sheikh Hamdan wants to make Dubai the best place to live in the world.
The new beach will be built in a wildlife sanctuary and will focus on protecting local ecosystems and wildlife. The project will include a 5km sandy beach and a 1.6km mangrove beach.
Mattar Al Tayer, Dubai’s commissioner for infrastructure, urban planning, and well-being, shared details of the plan, which includes a 2km open swimmable beach, a 2.5km diving area, a walkway with viewing platforms, recreational areas for all ages, kids play zones, sports areas, and marine activity areas.
The beach will also have parking for 1,000 vehicles, 80 bicycle racks, a cycling track, and a 5km running track. A floating restaurant will be a highlight of the development.
