In a tragic incident, a 19-year-old delivery boy took his own life after a troubling encounter with a female customer.
The incident occurred in the Kolathur area of Chennai. The boy, named Pavithran, was a B.Com student who worked part-time as a delivery rider to help pay for his studies.
On September 11, he was late delivering groceries because he had trouble finding the customer’s house. When he finally arrived, the customer scolded him for the delay. She later complained to the delivery company, which took action against him.
Two days later, Pavithran went back to the customer’s home and broke her window with a stone. The customer reported this to the police, who found Pavithran, questioned him, and warned him, but no formal complaint was filed against him because he was a student.
Five days after the incident, Pavithran was found dead in his room with a suicide note. In the note, he expressed that he felt depressed after being scolded during the delivery, saying, “More deaths will occur as long as such women exist.”
Indian police are now investigating the company and looking into whether Pavithran faced any undue pressure.
