The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has once again extended the deadline for tender submissions for outsourcing services at Islamabad Airport.
The government aims to raise funds by outsourcing airport services, prompting a two-month extension until July 15, as confirmed by the Civil Aviation Authority.
Interest has been expressed by companies from various countries including Turkey, the UAE, Qatar, Malaysia, and Saudi Arabia.
Initially announced in March with a May 15 deadline, the tender submission date has now been extended due to insufficient bidder interest.
Previously, the federal government issued tenders inviting applications for the outsourcing of Islamabad International Airport for a duration of 15 years.
Interested bidders were required to submit applications along with a Rs5,000 fee payable to the CAA by November 8.
It’s worth noting that the government also plans to outsource Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad International Airports.
However, the decision to outsource has faced opposition from the Employee Unions of the Civil Aviation Authority of Pakistan (CAA). They have consistently opposed the proposal since its inception in 2016, citing concerns about its adverse effects on national interests and the organization’s integrity.
