Dr. Jielian La, a Chinese doctor, has been offering acupuncture treatments in Pakistan for 33 years, promoting traditional Chinese medicine. Leading the Chinese Acupuncture Center and Chinese Clinical Lab since 1991, he initially came as part of a China-Pakistan cultural exchange to introduce acupuncture.
Dr. Jielian provides acupuncture mainly for pain relief and nervous disorders, including frozen shoulder, sciatica, and headaches. It also helps with conditions like tension, depression, and insomnia, with each session costing Rs2500.
Acupuncture involves inserting thin needles at specific body points and is used for pain and overall wellness. Traditional methods include observing and questioning the patient to diagnose and decide on treatment.
Dr. Jielian aims to expand this treatment in Pakistan and encourages Chinese practitioners to introduce traditional methods here. He has partnered with Pakistan’s Health Services Academy to train local doctors and medical professionals, with a second training course planned for October 2024.
He is also promoting Chinese herbal medicine in Pakistan and notes its positive results. Dr. Jielian distinguishes acupuncture from acupressure, highlighting its effectiveness for conditions like paralysis and sciatica.
One patient, Muhaddisa Batool, shared her positive experience, noting relief from shoulder pain after just two sessions at the clinic. The Chinese Acupuncture Centre, recognized by China’s Gansu Province, integrates Western medicine with Chinese herbal treatments.
