CDA to Revive 35-Year-Old E-12 Sector Development in Islamabad

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has committed to advancing the development of the E-12 sector in Islamabad, which has remained largely undeveloped since its initiation over 35 years ago. This decision marks a significant shift in addressing the long-standing issues surrounding the sector’s development.

Background:

The E-12 sector, launched in 1989, faced substantial delays due to disputes between the CDA and local landowners over compensation for the acquired land. Initial development efforts were partially undertaken a few years ago but were subsequently halted due to unresolved conflicts with contractors and landowners.

New Measures:

CDA Chairman Mohammad Ali Randhawa has taken decisive steps to address these issues. He has instructed the relevant departments to resolve the landowners’ legitimate concerns and to take action against those who have illegally occupied CDA land in the sector. Randhawa emphasized the urgent need to recommence development work in E-12 without further delay.

Coordinated Efforts:

To ensure the effective execution of these plans, Randhawa stressed the importance of coordinating the anti-encroachment operations with the Islamabad Police and city administration. He has also announced plans to visit the E-12 sector personally to oversee the resolution of ongoing issues and to expedite the development process.

Broader Scope:

In addition to focusing on E-12, the CDA chairman has called for similar actions in other sectors, including I-15 and I-12. The goal is to address encroachments and ensure the timely completion of development projects across these areas.

The CDA’s renewed focus on E-12 represents a significant step towards resolving the long-standing issues faced by plot owners and advancing the overall development of Islamabad.
