CDA to Invest Rs. 1.2 Million in Cats to Combat Rat Infestation at Parliament House
In a novel approach to tackle the ongoing rat infestation at Parliament House, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has allocated Rs. 1.2 million for the purchase of hunting cats. This strategy aims to harness the natural hunting skills of cats to manage and eliminate the rat problem plaguing the building.
The CDA’s plan involves deploying these feline hunters to target and reduce the rat population, complemented by the installation of specialized netted windows to trap rats and block their entry into sensitive areas. This infestation has been exacerbated by the recent sealing of ceilings, which has created an ideal habitat for the rodents, leading to damage across various departments, including the destruction of important files and documents.
A spokesperson for the National Assembly affirmed the CDA’s commitment to resolving the issue, stating, “The CDA will take action to eradicate rats,” underlining the urgency of the matter to ensure the Parliament House remains operationally efficient.
This creative pest control solution aims to provide an environmentally friendly alternative to chemical methods, using natural predators to address the problem effectively.
