CDA Alters Electric Bus Routes in Islamabad

By

Jun 07, 2024

The CDA has changed the routes for its electric buses in Islamabad. Instead of going from IJP to PIMS and Taramri Chowk to PIMS, the buses will now run in urban areas.

The new routes will make it easier for people to travel in a more environmentally friendly way. One route will go from NUST, Orange Line Depot, G-11 to PIMS Hospital with 13 stops. The other route will start at PIMS and end at Bari Imam, passing through G-7, G-6, Melody Market, Aabpara, Ataturk Road, Serena Hotel, Foreign Office, Radio Pakistan, and Diplomatic Enclave. Buses will run from 6 AM to 10 PM, with one coming every 10 minutes.

The change in routes is because of construction on Park Road, so buses can’t go from Taramri Chowk to PIMS yet. Once the construction is done, the CDA Transport Wing will suggest a new route.

Until then, buses will start from Jinnah Convention Center. The electric bus service is expected to start after Eid al-Adha, with 30 out of 150 buses already in Islamabad.

The CDA got these buses from China through the National Radio and Transportation Corporation (NRTC). This move aims to improve public transportation and offer a convenient, efficient, and eco-friendly way to travel.
