A car crashed into a Gaza solidarity protest near Islamabad’s Parliament building on Monday, killing at least two demonstrators and injuring three others.
The rally, organized by Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Senator Mushtaq Ahmed Khan, was disrupted when an unidentified driver drove into the crowd early in the morning, according to a JI spokesperson.
Police caught the driver, and the car was taken by the police.
During his speech to the protestors, Senator Mushtaq blamed the administration and Islamabad police for the incident and demanded justice for the attackers. He also led a funeral prayer for the deceased JI worker at D-Chowk, attended by many party workers and supporters.
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) senior leader Senator Farhatullah Babar expressed deep concern over the incident and called for action against the attackers. He posted on X (formerly Twitter), accusing Islamabad police of not filing a First Information Report (FIR) for the incident. Eyewitnesses claimed the police were not pursuing the real culprit, demanding a transparent investigation and FIR registration.
