Army to be Deployed Nationwide for Muharram Security
The federal government has approved deploying the Pakistan Army and Civil Armed Forces (CAF) across the country for Muharram security. This deployment will last indefinitely until final details are worked out with relevant authorities, including those in Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Islamabad.
The exact duration of this deployment will be decided later after consultations with all involved parties.
Provincial governments, including Punjab, had requested the federal government to suspend social media platforms from 6 to 11 Muharram to prevent the spread of hate material. However, the federal government has not yet decided to suspend internet services, according to a Ministry of Interior spokesperson.
