Amazon Offers Free Credits for Startups to Access AI Models, Including Anthropic

Amazon Web Service (AWS) is giving more help to startups by expanding its free credits program. This program now covers the costs of using big AI models. This move is part of Amazon’s plan to make its AI platform, Bedrock, more popular.

Now, startups can use their cloud credits from Amazon to use models from other companies like Anthropic, Meta, Mistral AI, and Cohere.

Howard Wright, who works at AWS, said this is a way of giving back to startups. He hopes this will make startups want to use AWS more.

Amazon recently invested $4 billion in Anthropic. As part of this deal, Anthropic will use AWS to build and train its models.

Wright said that by offering free credits, Amazon is helping companies like Anthropic make money. He believes this is good for building a strong community of companies.

Amazon has already given over $6 billion in credits to startups. They’re now partnering with Y Combinator, offering $500,000 in credits for startups to use on AI models and Amazon’s chips.

Other big companies like Microsoft and Google also offer free credits to AI startups. But these investments have caught the attention of regulators like the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, who are looking into whether they’re fair.
