The Al-Mashaaer Al-Mugaddassah Metro Line serves pilgrims traveling between the holy sites of Makkah, Mount Arafat, Muzdalifah, and Mina, making their religious journey smoother and more comfortable.
Spanning across an 18-kilometer double railway, the metro features nine stations strategically located at the sacred sites, with a capacity to transport 72,000 passengers per hour in one direction. With over 2,000 trips made, the metro significantly eases the movement of pilgrims during Hajj.
Operating at a speed of 80 kilometers per hour, the metro connects Mina and Arafat in just about 20 minutes. With a fleet of 17 trains, each accommodating 3,000 passengers, the metro efficiently transports more than 350,000 pilgrims between the holy sites.
The stations are designed to facilitate pilgrim movement, with separate areas for waiting and boarding, and platforms equipped with connecting bridges and ramps for easy access, especially for the elderly and people with disabilities. Each side of the station boasts 60 doors to ensure smooth entry and exit.
Operating on electric power, the metro is environmentally friendly, emitting zero carbon emissions. This contributes to preserving the environment in the holy sites area and ensures the overall health and well-being of pilgrims.
