Airlines Suspend Flights to Israel, Jordan, and Lebanon Amid Rising Tensions

By

Aug 12, 2024

In response to the escalating Israel-Hamas conflict and the anticipated threat of an assault from Iran, a growing number of airlines are suspending flights to Israel. The disruption is also affecting neighboring countries, including Jordan and Lebanon, as airlines adjust their operations based on the evolving security situation.

The US State Department issued a Level 4 travel alert on July 31, the highest advisory level, advising US citizens against traveling to Lebanon and northern Israel, particularly within 2.5 miles of the Lebanese and Syrian borders, due to heightened tensions with the Hezbollah militant group. Jordan remains under a Level 2 alert, “Exercise Increased Caution,” which was issued on July 13.
