In a surprising turn of events, Pakistani cricketer Ahmed Shehzad has announced his withdrawal from the upcoming Champions One-Day Cup. This decision comes after the 32-year-old opener previously pulled out of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) earlier this year.
On X (formerly Twitter), Shehzad shared his frustration, saying, “It’s with a heavy heart that I’ve chosen not to participate in the Domestic Cricket Champions Cup. The PCB’s favoritism, broken promises, and blatant injustice towards domestic players are simply unacceptable.”
He didn’t hold back in his critique: “While Pakistan grapples with inflation, poverty, and soaring electricity bills, the PCB squanders Rs5 million on mentors who contribute nothing and continues to reward underperforming players, pushing Pakistan cricket to new lows.”
Shehzad also took aim at the PCB’s handling of domestic players, stating, “It’s disheartening to see the PCB claim they lack the necessary tools for surgery, which is a profound disrespect to domestic cricketers. As a passionate Pakistani and cricket enthusiast, I can’t support a system that disregards merit. I refuse to be part of this failed setup.”
