Abdul Wahab bin Zain Al Abidin Al Shaibi has been appointed as the new chief key holder of the Holy Kaaba, as announced by Inside the Haramain on June 24.
This appointment comes after the passing of Sheikh Saleh Al Shaiba on June 22, who served as the 109th guardian of the Kaaba, succeeding the companion Uthman ibn Talha.
Abdul Wahab has expressed his commitment to fulfilling his duties under the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.
Traditionally, the key is entrusted to the eldest member of the family. Abdul Wahab’s first task will be to oversee the handing over of the Kiswah of the Kaaba on the first day of Muharram.
