Pakistan national cricket team captain Babar Azam has filed a defamation lawsuit against senior anchor Mubasher Luqman.

Sources say Babar took this step after consulting his legal team, responding to what he claims are false allegations made by the anchor.

The legal notice from Babar demands Rs 1 billion in compensation from Luqman. His legal team argues that the match-fixing allegations are baseless and harm his reputation.

The notice also challenges Luqman to prove his claims or pay the damages sought by Azam.

Recently, in a viral video, Luqman accused Babar of receiving an Audi E-Tron from questionable sources and owning apartments in Australia and New Zealand under dubious circumstances.

Luqman’s accusations came after Pakistan’s poor performance in the USA, where they exited the tournament early, losing to the USA and narrowly beating Ireland.

The video alleges Babar received gifts for intentionally losing matches, mentioning the Audi E-Tron and overseas apartments as evidence.

Luqman also criticized former skipper Shaheen Shah Afridi for his poor T20 World Cup performance, sparking controversy and calls for the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to investigate.

The Pakistan cricket team has faced significant backlash from fans and pundits following their disappointing performance in the USA.
