The Meteorological Department has issued a warning indicating the likelihood of a heat wave hitting Karachi from May 29 to 31.

Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz highlighted that today, the city will experience scorching temperatures ranging between 40 and 42 degrees Celsius.

Beyond Karachi, several districts in Sindh, including Qamber Shahdadkot, Larkana, Shikarpur, and Jacobabad, are anticipated to face temperatures 6 to 8 degrees higher than usual. Additionally, areas like Khairpur, Sanghar, Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, and Tharparkar may see temperatures elevated by 4 to 6 degrees Celsius.

Sarfaraz cautioned that the heat’s intensity is expected to peak on May 29 and 30. Residents are advised to take necessary precautions to mitigate heat-related ailments during this period of extreme temperatures.

Despite the prevailing heat wave, there is some relief on the horizon as Sarfaraz forecasted improved weather conditions after June 10 to 15. This outlook offers hope for residents enduring the forthcoming days of intense heat.

Meanwhile, the Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has also issued a warning, confirming the ongoing heat wave across Punjab today. According to a PDMA spokesperson, temperatures are projected to soar between 45 and 50 degrees Celsius, exacerbating the heat wave’s impact on the region.
