The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of Punjab has announced the arrest of 33 terrorists affiliated with banned organizations following a series of covert operations across various cities in Punjab, including Lahore.
Among those detained are six individuals from Lahore, including a prominent member of the banned Al-Qaeda group. The operations also led to arrests in Nankana Sahib, Bahawalpur, and Sheikhupura.
CTD officials identified those arrested in Lahore as Ayatullah, Faisal, Bakht Jamal, and Hamza. During the operations, authorities recovered a substantial cache of explosive materials, weapons, hand grenades, equipment for making suicide vests, and a significant amount of cash.
The suspects were allegedly planning attacks on sensitive installations in the region. The CTD has filed cases against the detainees and is continuing its investigation to determine the full scope of their plans and identify any additional accomplices.
On Friday, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir emphasized the commitment of the armed forces and the people of Pakistan to thwart the malicious intentions of adversaries. Speaking on Defense and Martyrs Day, he honored the sacrifices made by brave individuals for the nation.
