In a bizarre turn of events, an 18-year-old from Bihar, India, found himself in a precarious situation after being conned into believing he could become an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer without taking the demanding UPSC Civil Services Examination.

The saga began when a conman named Manoj Singh tricked the young man, Kumar, into thinking that his dream of becoming a top-ranking police officer could be expedited. Singh charged Kumar a hefty sum of Rs 2 lakh for his “services” and even provided him with a counterfeit IPS uniform and a pistol—its authenticity remains uncertain.

A video of the incident quickly went viral, showcasing the Sikandara police escorting the faux officer while making sarcastic remarks. One officer humorously remarked, “Please sir, come, IPS. Come to our Sikandara Police Station,” as Kumar handed over the pistol. The video, shared by the National Crime Investigation Bureau (NCIB), has attracted significant attention on social media.

What do you think about this unusual case? How can young people be better protected from such scams?
