Yağız Kaan Erdoğmuş, a 13-year-old chess prodigy from Turkey, has etched his name into history by becoming the youngest player to achieve a 2600 ELO rating and earn the title of grandmaster.
The Turkish Chess Federation celebrated this milestone, highlighting Erdoğmuş’s exceptional performance at the Abu Dhabi Chess Festival. They remarked, “Our star athlete Yağız Kaan Erdoğmuş, now the world’s youngest grandmaster, has also become the youngest to surpass the 2600 ELO rating.”

In chess, players with a rating of 2500 or above are classified as grandmasters, while those reaching 2700 or higher are often known as “super grandmasters.” Erdoğmuş’s achievement underscores his remarkable talent and sets a new benchmark in the world of chess
